State Fair 2024 1st post

Sorry for the delay....and internet reception seems to be spotty, and it's RAINING!  Perhaps it'll keep the crowd down.....anyhow, let's get started!   Decided to start off in the exposition building.  It's pretty much the same thing every year.  It's all inside one large building now (more on that later), and I only made it half way through before the strollers and wagons got to me....outside I go!

State Fair

Hey ol' buckeroos, been a long time....Today is Wisconsin State Fair day for me.  I'd like to write about one of my favorite places as it is and as what I remember it to be.  I worked in the buidings and grounds department from the summer of 1979 to after the fair in 1984, and again from the fair in 1988 to shortly after the fair in 1989.  But I had been attending the fair since long before that, and I intend to share some of those memories as well.  Along this trip down my memory lane I'll introduce you to some of the people I crossed paths with here at the fair.  I looked forward to comments--and corrections!--as I spend the day taking in Wisconsin State Fair 2024.  Grounds open at 10--should have my first post shortly after.  Hope you're along for the ride.....

This is not how I expected retirement to be.  I should have been going to concerts and ballgames, taking day trips and seeing the good ol' USA.  As we all know, not a whole lot of any of that going on this year.  Started off OK, Hawaii is a beautiful place, and I'm happy I got to go.  It was nice spending time in Utah with the sister/brother in law on the way home, and nice to spend some time with friends at spring training.  Headed to FLA shortly after to visit the mother in law, and that's when the Covid hit.  We spent 7 weeks there...nothing to do, but we were warm, and I know we were much more fortunate than some. So do I miss work?  Not one bit.  I miss some of my old co-workers, and some of...
